With those closest to him, Dwyane Wade is enjoying his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fаme!
The 41-year-old sports icon revealed in a series of Instagram Story pictures that he is on vacation with his wife, Gabrielle Union, and their 4-year-old daughter Kaavia James, just a few days after receiving the career accolade.
Wade started the Instagram story by posting pictures of their daughter having a good time on a boat excursion, while her 50-year-old mother was smiling and watching her perform.
The former athlete posted a cute picture of the two cuddling up with the sun shining overhead. He also uploaded a picture of himself lounging on a pillow, dressed in a white baseball cap and a gray t-shirt.
“Have a time my love ️ @gabunion,” he wrote next to two solitary photos of Union posing in a white one-piece swimsuit.
Wade included a video of himself dancing to music playing on the boat journey, looking at his phone, and sporting animal print shorts to demonstrate that he was having fun. He penned “The Reset” next to the video.
In addition, he posted a video of himself diving into the ocean and a sunset. The sports legend and his ex-wife Siovaughn Funches have two children, Zaire, 21, and Zaya, 16, in addition to Kaavia. Along with Aja Metoyer, he is the legal guardian of his 21-year-old nephew Dahveon Morris and has a 9-year-old son named Xavier.
The family vacation with Wade and Union happened a few days before their ninth wedding anniversary. In a 2021 interview with PEOPLE, Union revealed that communication has been the key to their long-lasting marriage.
“This is both of our second marriages, and we’re suρer transparent about that,” she stated. “The initial attempt was not executed correctly by us. Being more equitable and cooperative is an alternative. We approach each other in the middle, listen, and humble ourselves.” In his Hall of Fаme acceptance speech, Wade acknowledged their relationship and thanked Union for “making our house a home.”
“Thank you for making sure our kids feel seen, heard, and protected when I’m not around,” he said. “Thank you for learning every ref’s nаme in the NBA and for screaming at them so I didn’t have to — saved a lot of fine money.”
“I know I’m traveling for work this year during our anniversary, so I want to sаy thank you for being on this journey for me — with me, these past 15 years,” he said. “I appreciate that you have come to appreciate and cherish my flaws in the same way that we have appreciated and loved our ideal times. I cherish you.”
