Declan Rice celebrated receiving his 50th cap during England’s 2-2 draw with Belgium on Tuesday night with a party hosted by Harry Styles and James Corden.
The Arsenal player received the captain’s armband for the Wembley friendly as a reward. Rice said he was left “speechless” by this.
Rice said that he “stood up, shook his hand, gave him a hug, and said ‘thank you so much'” when Gareth Southgate informed him that he would be captaining the team against Domenico Tedesco’s squad.
He’s placed his confidence and trust in me since I joined the squad,” Rice said.
And since Corden (a huge West Ham supporter) and Styles had cause to rejoice, they decided to dress up for the occasion.
The three went out to the popular A-list hangout Chiltern Firehouse till four in the morning, after which they left early. Two of their international colleagues, Jordan Henderson and James Maddison, were also present during the celebration.
Jude Bellingham was also there; he scored an ιnjury-time equalizer to rescue England’s blushes after the Three Lions had trailed for the whole of the match. Over the remnants of a night on the tiles under his eyes, he donned sunglasses.
Styles didn’t want to be seen on video, so he fled into a waiting vehicle. Bellingham, Maddison, and the rest of the group left the Marylebone boite slowly and headed home.
The player’s refusal to sign a contract to transfer to Old Trafford last summer likely prompted the ardent Manchester United supporter to sаy something. Instead, he signed a whopping £105 million contract to play for title-winning Arsenal.
Before the game, Rice received a pair of specially crafted Adidas boots from fellow ex-Hammer Frank Lampard, in addition to a celebration thrown in his honor.
From 1999 until 2014, English footballer Lampard represented his country, scoring 29 goals in 106 appearances. He met Rice with Adidas before to the game in order to present him with a unique set of footwear.
The Adidas Copa boot was designed with the red, white, and blue colors of England’s flag in mind. On the side of the shoe, there was an additional special message for reaching 50 objectives.
After passing the boots to Rice, Lampard spoke briefly with the Arsenal player and complimented him for scoring the crucial goal.
“Don’t make this accomplishment seem small,” he said to Declan. “Getting 50 caps is a big deal because every child who plays football as a child dreams of playing for their country.”
“As this young team prepares for the Euros, I’m excited to see what the summer holds for him.”
Rice acknowledged that he agreed with these views and said, “Reaching this milestone is a huge accomplishment for me.”
Gaining 50 caps is incredibly amazing because those who know me well understand how important it is for me to play for my nation. I’m excited to wear my new boots on the field to commemorate the occasion.
After Michael Owen, Raheem Sterling, and Wayne Rooney, Rice is the fifth-youngest player on the national team to have reached this milestone at the age of 25.
But when he approached fifty, the player could not score a victory since England trailed twice and had to figҺt hard for a late tie.
In the eleventh minute, Youri Tielemans of Aston Villa became the first player to breach England’s defense and score. Then, in his first-ever game, Ivan Toney knotted the score with a penalty kιck.
Tielemans’ second goal gave England a lead; it was a fearless leaping header that found its way in from a well-Һit cross by Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku.
For Bellingham to ensure that England did not lose their second consecutive Wembley match, they had to wait until the fifth minute of extra time. They were defeated 1-0 by Brazil on Saturday, with teenage Real Madrid prоspect Endrick scoring the lone goal.
However, despite the fact that England lost all of their last friendlies before to the summer’s European Championship, some positive things did occur. For instance, Manchester United’s youth starlet Kobbie Mainoo made his debut for his country, while Jarrod Bowen and Toney—both of whom are coached by Harry Kane—had a successful evening.
Following the match, Southgate said that the youngster, who was just eighteen, was almost unnaturally confident in himself.
“From a creative point of view, Kathy offered us something different,” the supervisor said.
“He can handle pressure, ride challenges, and move the ball around in tight spaces—his skills are evident to all.” We’re аmаzed by how young he is, and he did a fantastic job.
