Anthony Davis reportedly signs three-year, $186M max extension to stay with Lakers

Anthony Davis is expected to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the duration of the 2027-28 NBA season. Friday, Davis purportedly signed a three-year, $186 million maximum extension with the team, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Davis, 30, had approximately $84 million remaining on the five-year, $189 million extension he signed in 2020 with the Lakers. The duration of this agreement is the 2024-25 NBA season. By the end of that season, Davis’ three-year extension will have been activated, extending its duration until 2027-28.

Friday marked Davis’s first day of eligibility to sign the contract, and the Lakers expeditiously finalized the agreement. Davis will receive an average of $62 million over the course of three seasons under the terms of the extension, which ranks among the most lucrative in NBA history.

Davis has developed into a member of the squad prior to the 2019-20 NBA season, averaging 24.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest. One of the team’s primary contributors to its 2019-20 NBA title, he averaged 27.2 points in twenty-one postseason contests.
