Man Utd close in on first January transfer deal after fending off Arsenal interest

Manchester United is almost done with a deal to sign Callan McKenna, a goalie for Scotland’s Under-19 team.

Soon, the goalkeeper from Queen’s Park will be moving to Old Trafford. The Scottish Championship team could get a seven-figure payday if the 17-year-old meets several performance-related add-ons. The Daily Record reports that the starting fee will be in the six figures.

Since late September, McKenna has been hurt and hasn’t played in any of Queen’s Park’s first seven games in the second level this season.

Head coach Erik ten Hag said United should have scored more goals in their FA Cup third-round win over Wigan Athletic last night.

You have to win the FA Cup to get the prize. It’s a victory. Two games would have to be played to decide the winner, but you want to finish the job, and that’s exactly what he said in the locker room: “Job done.”

“In the first half, we had five or six great chances.” Thought it was good football, and we should have done better. But if you don’t score, you have to keep your mind on the task at hand, and I believe we did that.

United is a huge favorite to beаt either Newport or Eastleigh and move on to the fifth round. However, Ten Hag said it is way too early to dream of winning another prize at Wembley.

“That’s too far away,” he said. “You have to go from game to game, especially in the cup.” That’s fine with us, but right now our whole attention is on Spurs in the Premier League.
