Man United reveal their new away kit for the upcoming season, reminding fans of the 90s version

Manchester United have launched their new away kit for the 2024-25 season, with the design inspired by the three rivers in the city.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Leah Galton star in the launch video for the new strip, which is a dark shade of blue applied as a series of circular patterns.

The shirt is a homage to the 3D monograms seen on the Red Devils’ kits in the past, and the club have said the three rivers – the Irk, Medlock and Irwell – hold a special significance to the club as the crossing point where Old Trafford meets the city.

A polo collar is included, with United suggesting the lighter shades of blue running through the collar connects fans and players to the club’s home while playing in away colours.

The strip was launched on Thursday morning, with fans piurring over the new design – highlighted by an all-over embossed M graphic – on social media.

‘We’ve got the best squad in the world and the best kit to go along with it,’ one fan wrote on X, previously Twitter.

Another added: ‘Looks hella wavy.’

A third, meanwhile, posted: ‘Damn, they re so cool.’

Made by adidas, there are three stripes down each shoulder and the logo on the front of the strip, with the Manchester United devil on the back of the collar.

Buying the shirt from the club will cost a pretty penny, however, with the shirt costing £80 on the club site, while an authentic shirt will set punters back £110.

Authentic shorts will cost £45, with socks costing £20.

At the start of the month, the club launched their new Busby Babes-inspired home strip, with BAFTA award winning actor Barry Keoghan set to star in promotional campaigns.

The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from their worst-ever Premier League finish last season as they enter their first full campaign under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The strip comes with a collar and also pays trubite to the three rivers that flow through Manchester

Sam Handy, SVP of Product and Design at adidas said: ‘We have the honour every season to resonate with fans via special nods to their club and culture – and for the Manchester United away kit this season, it’s the city itself.

‘Through features such as the collar and a nostalgic design that speaks to beloved design codes, we champion elements of the city and club’s history, finished with premium modern details to stand out on the streets, in the stands and on the pitch.’

United have also encouraged fans to wear their new strips in public and tag the club in any social media posts showing it off.
