Real Madrid has chosen a new captain in anticipation of Nacho Fernandez’s summertime departure.
Captain Nacho Fernandez is expected to depart Real Madrid this summer as a free agent and get ready to sign with Al-Qadsiah, a recently promoted Saudi Pro League team, according to Spanish media.
In particular, Luka Modric, a seasoned midfielder, has been selected to take Nacho’s place as the Spanish royal team’s captain. In the meantime, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez will be the vice captains of the team that will defend the Champions League title.
Toni Kroos was another important player that Los Blancos lost this summer in addition to Nacho Fernandez. After almost ten years with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Kroos said the team farewell while Nacho departed for Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid is making sure that their juniors are still being led by an experienced player as they get ready for the 2024–25 campaign by giving Modric the armband of captain.
Real spent time with Modric. A member of Real Madrid’s coaching staff stated, “We hope that Modric will continue to connect every Real player in the dressing room.”
It is necessary to remember that Fernandez joined Real Madrid in 2012 and participated in 364 games for them. He also added six Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, and five Western Suρer Cup titles during this time. Spain added more trophies to its collection.
