After helping Real Madrid win their 36th league championship, Jude Bellingham, 20, was chosen as La Liga’s player of the year.
In votes cast by supporters, club captains, and an expert panel, Bellingham defeated his teammate Vinícius Júnior, Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid), Artem Dovbyk (Girona), and Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona).
In 28 league games, he netted 19 goals and six assists, while in all competitions, he recorded 23 goals and 12 assists. Bellingham, who was getting ready for his previous team, Borussia Dortmund, in the Champions League final at Wembley, prevented him from attending the Sardinia ceremony. Nevertheless, he expressed his gratitude for the accolade.
He posted on social media, saying, “I would like to dedicate it to my teammates, the coaching staff, and, most importantly, to the fans of the best club in the world.” Every time I play for this team, it’s a pleasure. Hey Madrid!
Before coming to Madrid, the England international won the 2022–2023 Bundesliga player of the season while playing for Dortmund.
