Before Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer, his team made the decision to demand both salary and bonuses from PSG.
L’Equipe claims that Mbappe earned an 80 million euro loyalty bonus from PSG in February.
But the wealthy French team kept Mbappe and didn’t give him this enormous sum of money.
Rather, PSG President Al-Khelaifi contacted Florentino Perez, his counterpart at Bernabeu, and requested that Real Madrid reimburse PSG for the excess of 80 million euros.
Naturally, Perez ignored the business “boss,” citing Mbappe’s free transfer to Real Madrid as justification for not wasting money on PSG.
The relationship between PSG President Al-Khelaifi and Real Madrid was exacerbated by the latter’s strong approach.
According to the source mentioned above, PSG not only decided not to pay incentives as a result of Mbappe’s departure for Real Madrid, but they also decided to retain the striker’s April salary.
Mbappe’s legal team is currently involved and intends to pursue a wage and bonus claim.
Due to the controversy surrounding his departure prior to the 2018 season, Mbappe was placed under strict supervision by PSG, barred from first team practices, and not allowed to play in the league’s opening game.
After meeting with President Al-Khelaifi, Mbappe reportedly agreed to forfeit his loyalty bonus to PSG in exchange for the opportunity to play with the Paris team to the fullest extent once more.
