On Sunday, Real Madrid celebrated winning the Spanish league with supporters by parading around the city’s streets and meeting with officials.
With four rounds remaining, Madrid secured its 36th league title last weekend, but the team was unable to immediately celebrate as it still had to play the second leg of the Champions League semifinals.
Joselu, a striker, scored two goals in the closing minutes to help Madrid overcome Bayern Munich 2-1 on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. With the win, Madrid advanced 3-2 overall to play Borussia Dortmund in the final on June 1 in London.
Speaking to the audience on Sunday, Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos stated, “I’m sure that in three weeks we will be back here.”
The team was welcomed by several thоusand supporters as it marched across the city to Cibeles Square, the club’s customary celebration location. As the crowd applauded, team captain Nacho Fernández raised the league trophy and draped a Madrid flag and scarf over the statue of the goddess Cybele.
At a ceremony held at the club’s training facility, the trophy was presented to the team.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti smoked a cigar, sported sunglasses, and posed for pictures with teammates while sporting a scarf from Real Madrid.
Normally, Madrid hosts fans at the Bernabeu to celebrate its victories, but on Sunday, the venue was in use for a performance.
Granada players lined up to cheer the winners as they entered the field prior to begin, following the guard of honor tradition, but Madrid won 4-0 at the demoted team on Saturday.
The majority of players and Florentino Pérez, the club president, addressed the cheering supporters, who also chanted some of the team’s battling hymns.
Thibaut Courtois, Éder Militão, and David Alaba were among the players who suffered catastrophic knee ligament rupture early in the season. Pérez commented, “This team overcame a situation that looked irreversible.”
A round of applause for the three injured players was led by Nacho.
