Manchester United’s chances of playing in Europe the following season were further damaged when they fell 1-0 to title-chasing Arsenal at home.
In a tense, low-quality match, Leandro Trossard’s tap-in goal in the first half proved to be the difference. United is now three points behind Wednesday’s opponents, Newcastle and Chelsea.
This is our rating of the Man Utd players.
Andre Onana (7)
stopped Gabriel Martinelli from scoring a vital second with a stunning one-handed stop. Trossard’s close-range finish was not my fault.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6
defensively alert, but Martinelli overcame him for a late opportunity.
Casemiro 4
played Kai Havertz a mile onside for the first goal, but then was unable to follow Trossard’s run. It was intended to demonstrate the match’s pivotal mistake.
Jonny Evans (6)
Hadrtz beаt him too easily for Trossard’s goal, although he performed effectively overall, especially when he had the ball.
Diogo Dalot 7
occasionally did a good job of carrying the ball out of defense and helped to keep Bukayo Saka quiet.
Mainoo Kobbie 6
In a more advanced midfield position, tidy and composed when in control. yet hardly appeared to be able to harm Arsenal in the closing third.
Amrabat, Sofyan (6)
While he covered a lot of ground and helped United hold their own in the middle of the field, some of his passing was careless.
Six Scott McTominay
Whenever feasible, got stuck in and moved ahead with the ball.
Garnacho Alejandro, 6
Ben White was stretched, especially in the second half, but he wasted some good opportunities and lacked final product.
7 Amad Diallo
labored tirelessly up and down the right side while being at ease and stylish in possession. It’s a shame that with 20 minutes remaining, he had to leave hurt.
Hojlund Rasmus 5.
wasted an early opportunity to score when he lost his footing and made a nameless show that left him with just a whiff left.
Alternatives:
Diallo (Antony) 7
made an impact right away by hitting the side netting with a shot and making multiple driving runs.
Willy Kambwala (75′ Evans) 6
For the last fifteen minutes, with United mostly on the оffensive, solid at center-half.
Eriksen, Christian (Amrabat 87′) 6
made a crucial late move to prevent Arsenal from getting a second.
Omari Forson, 87′ Wan-Bissaka
Not much time to make an impact, even as United surged in the last moments.
Hojlund 88′ Ethan Wheatley 5
Too little time to leave a lasting impact.
Bayindir, Collyer, Amass, and Ogunneye were not used.
