Sons Bryce and Bronny James, daughter Zhuri, and wife Savannah James attended the 2023 ESPY Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on July 12, 2023.

James’s family honored him with the Best Record-Breаking Performance trophy during the occasion, acknowledging his accomplishment of breаking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA lifetime scoring record the season before.

The NBA player thanked his family, friends, mentors, and of course the fans during his statement.

He also talked about the rumors that he would retire after an incredible 20 years of work that hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.

“A lot of experts told you guys what I said when the season ended, and I know that’s what I said, but I’m here now speaking for myself,” James remarked after the end of the game. “At that precise time, I’m wondering if I can continue to play without abusing the game. Can I still give the game everything I have? The trutҺ is that for a few years now, at the conclusion of the season, I have been asking myself this question.

James continued by saying that he will not be retiring anytime soon because of his sons’ ardor and commitment to basketball.

“I’ll be done the day I can’t give the game everything on the floor,” declared James. “You guys are lucky; today is not that day.”

“Well, I do still have something.” Plenty left,” James remarked.
