Christian Eriksen has expressed his dissatisfaction with Manchester United’s tendency to let up late goals, which cost them dearly in their most recent matchup.
The team’s failure to win games, as evidenced by a costly draw against Burnley, is a problem that has plagued Erik ten Hag’s tenure.
Even though Antony scored a late goal that appeared to give United the win, Zeki Amdouni of Burnley gave Burnley a penalty in the closing seconds, resulting in a 1-1 draw and the 18th time this season that United has allowed a goal after 80 minutes.
Eriksen told MUTV, “Well, obviously, we had the three points in our hand,” and continued, “And going into the last minutes of ordinary time, I think we should be able to keep a clean sheet and then get the three points.”
United lost out on a chance to maintain their lead over Newcastle in the top six race with the draw, especially in light of Newcastle’s convincing 5-1 victory over Sheffield United—a team that United had found difficult to defeat 4-2 only a few days earlier.
For the first time since January, Eriksen was back in the league and discussed his performance: “Of course, I still think there’s some bits that could have been better today, a few decisions that could have been better and put my team-mate or myself in a better position around the pitch.”
Eriksen is still dedicated despite his recent lack of playing time, stating, “I’m trying to do my best.” Though there hasn’t been as much gaming time, I believe you have to give it your all while you’re playing. And I’m attempting to achieve it.”
The attention of United now turns to their Sunday journey to take on Crystal Palace, led by Patrick Vieira. Eriksen declared, “There will be a complete focus on the recovery.” “It’s going to be weird because it’s going to be a long week with no games.”
“Hopefully, it will help everyone get in shape and ready for Monday’s game against Palace. Get yourself psychologically and physically ready for a few days of training, rest days, and then back to it.
“Every day and in every game, you want to be playing the games. It’s not the same.” To recoup and get ready for the following game, you occasionally need to take a little break.”
“It depends what the manager is going to do in training sessions or how much we’re going to prepare and what we’re going to do until the next game.”
