Manchester United is keeping an eye on Ronald Araujo, and BARCELONA is “listening to offers” for the defender.
With nearly 150 matches under his belt since making his debut for Barcelona in the 2019–20 season, Araujo has grown into a vital member of the squad.
However, the La Liga is apparently considering letting Araujo loose due to the aftermath from his red card in the devastating Champions League quarterfinal loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
In the first half of the second match, the 25-year-old fouled Bradley Barcola and was given a straight red card.
At the time, Barca was ahead 1-0 on the evening and 4-2 on aggregate, and they appeared to be headed for a semi-final place.
However, the red gave PSG the advantage, as the Parisians scored four goals to advance.
Following Araujo’s public criticism by Ilkay Gundogan, the Barca dressing room was reportedly “split into four clans.”
Furthermore, according to Spanish publication Sport, Xavi’s team “will listen to offers” for the Uruguayan center back.
It is well known that Barcelona, who is always short on funds, will have to sell a player this summer in order to make ends meet.
According to the research, Araujo is among the players whose sales could yield greater profits.
Given United’s interest, Barca is certain they might receive an offer of up to £86 million.
Araujo has long been admired by the Red Devils, and if he were available for transfer, it is believed the team would be first in line to sign him.
Barca are certain they have enough defensive cover in case he leaves since Pau Cubarsi, who is 17 years old, has emerged.
Given that Araujo paid £1.4 million to join the Blaugrana in 2018, the Catalan powerhouses should realize a sizable profit.
