For the past two weeks, everyone’s attention has been focused on international action, but Real Madrid is still getting ready for their next match against Athletic Bilbao and, more significantly, the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
Carlo Ancelotti, however, used the chance to train a few first team players and call up Castilla players while up to 14 Real Madrid players were with their various national groups.
Among the notable people in the training sessions were Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Lucas Vazquez, and Eder Militao.
Mundo Deportivo reports that attention was mostly focused on Militao, the Brazilian center back who is expediting his recuperation in an attempt to rejoin the team for the La Liga match on March 31 against Athletic Bilbao.
The Brazilian may not start this Champions League match against Manchester City, according to recent sources, so it’s unclear if he will be in the running to start.
In the week’s second practice, Lucas Vazquez and Mendy participated, and the Italian boss was also forced to summon up a few Castilla players. The majority of the foreign players went back to practice with Ancelotti as well.
In a friendly against Chile that resulted in a 3-2 victory for France, Eduardo Camavinga was the only player to have an ιnjury scаre during the interval. Matteo Guendouzi took his place in the 44th minute.
The club is hopeful that the French midfielder will be included in the squad for the match against Athletic Bilbao, and hopes are strong that the ιnjury was very minor.
Carlo Ancelotti would want to have his whole team available for what is likely to be the season’s most crucial match at Santiago Bernabeu against Manchester City following this La Liga match.
