In order to succeed at Manchester United, Antony has been transparent about the work he does behind the scenes.
The Brazilian was one of the Reds’ heroes in Sunday’s 4-3 FA Cup victory over Liverpool. Manager Erik ten Hag started Antony on the bench, and he came on late in the second half to take Rasmus Hojlund’s position.
In response, Antony scored his second goal of the year to tie the score at 2-2 and force extra time in the match. Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, and Scott McTominay all scored as the Reds went on to win the match 4-3.
Following a challenging season thus far for Antony in front of goal, the forward has faced criticism from certain quarters of the press. The 24-year-old has now disclosed his unwavering will to elevate his performance and return the faith that United has placed in him since he moved from Ajax for £85.5 million in 2022.
“It’s been a time of a great deal of learning,” Antony stated in an ESPN interview. “I make an effort to take advice to heart and see where I can grow.
“I’ve been quietly striving to improve and demonstrate my football skills on the pitch. To improve my right foot, I have also started training it.
“I understand why Manchester hired me and I am aware of my potential. On the pitch, I want to make up for all of this.”
Antony continued by elaborating on the significance of his goal against Liverpool on the outcome of his United career. It was just his second goal of the season and his first at Old Trafford since the Champions League match against Real Betis on March 9 of last year.
“Personally it was a very important moment for me, I needed that goal,” Antony remarked. When the Brazilian returns from the international break, he will now aim to maintain his current level of play for United. The Reds take on Brentford in the Premier League on March 30.
