After six years of operation, a restaurant founded by Manchester United greats Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville shuttered due to complaints from patrons that it was too similar to McDonald’s.
Many have criticized Cafe Football in Stratford, East London, for being overpriced. One customer wrote online, “Re-mortgage your property before eating here,” while another said, “Never again.”

Located in the center of Stratford, East London, the restaurant received harsh TripAdvisor reviews from patrons who felt the meal was excessively pricey.
The restaurant is located in an area that was the hub of the capital’s Olympic reconstruction, less than half a mile from West Ham United’s stadium.
The brand’s hotel network will now be able to receive more attention, according to the proprietors, who added that they “will not be making any changes to what we offer” in terms of hospitality.

Just last week, GG Hospitality, the cafe’s owner, offered a Twitter promotion that let kids eat for free.
In addition to its two Manchester sites, the business also maintains a Football Cafe in Singapore.
The CEO of GG Hospitality, Winston Zahra, stated that the company plans to implement the café service at both its hotels and its Manchester cafes.
“We can confirm that Cafe Football in Westfield Stratford has closed in accordance with our strategy of concentrating on the expansion of our hotel business and not operating stand-alone cafes,” he stated.
“In the future, Café Football will be a crucial component of Hotel Football’s food and beverage menu.”
“We won’t be changing anything; the experience will still be exclusively Hotel Football.”
