The Los Angeles Lakers headed up north for a crucial rematch with the Sacramento Kings one week after losing to them, and it was an opportunity for them to get their reve𝚗ge.
The Lakers needed to defeat the Kings in order to increase their prospects of moving up and improving their status in the Western Conference standings, which are extremely tight.
Rather, Los Angeles lost their regular season series to Sacramento after putting up yet another stinker against them.
As seen on Spectrum SportsNet, Anthony Davis provided an explanation for his and the team’s lackluster performance against the Kings.
According to Davis, “We had a 17-point quarter.” We had some early turnovers when we came out in the third, and they were able to take advantage of our missed shots. Barnes (Harrison) made a good shot, and from three, they were all excellent. We had a difficult shooting night; we were somewhat hurt by our turnovers and оffensive rebounding. Whenever they had a rebound, they typically scored a three. It’s difficult because, as you may know, they’re a strong team, and it gets much more difficult when we give them easy points in transition or give them second chances.
Davis also acknowledged that it’s annoying to fall short of Sacramento twice in a similar manner:
“It’s annoying, particularly the past two games.” That was the game right there, our awful second quarter at our place. We may have got 17 points in the third quarter tonight, I believe. After halftime, I was unable to put the ball in the hoop. made some difficult mistakes, particularly to begin the third. They were down four, and I believe it increased to twelve or so very fast after they got some easy looks. All we need to do is exit the half prepared. LeBron, DLo, and I all struggled from the field, but especially me in the first half with shots close to the rim. You don’t want to give a squad like this any more extra points when you’re behind. It’s more harder to defeat them when we allow extra points from оffensive rebounds and mistakes.
Lastly, Davis admitted that the most annoying way for the Lakers to lose a game is when they defeat themselves:
“Any loss is discouraging, but it’s really bad when you let a team win because of your errors. As previously mentioned, there were several turnovers, оffensive rebounds, defensive blunders, and poor defense-side communication. Rather than playing the correct way, we let a team beаt us; if they made shots and prevailed, then congratulations to them. But since you don’t know what works, we can’t let a team beаt us. Thus, I believe that any loss of that nature is undoubtedly upsetting.
When the Lakers play the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, Davis and company had better be ready because the Lakers can’t seem to get out of their own way.
On the Lakers giving away оffensive rebounds, Anthony Davis
This season, Los Angeles has had to deal with the fallout from cleaning up the glass in several games, and it was an issue in the defeat to Sacramento. The Kings damaged the Lakers with second-chance points after grabbing nine оffensive boards.
Sacramento was able to get more оffensive rebounds as a result of the long shots, according to Davis, who also stated that the club cannot afford to just watch:
I’ll have to take a closer look, but there was one in particular that I can think of: after I boxed him out and assumed Bron was going to come over the top to grab the rebound, he thought I was going to get it instead, so neither of us really jumped, and Sabonis got it and kicked it out to Harrison for three. Long rebounds in the vicinity of the free throw line are typically the outcome of their frequent jump shot usage. We have to put a body on a body and go fetch the ball; we can no longer just watch. I need to go back and look at them to see what happened since I’m not sure about all of them.
