With Kylian Mbappe heading to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain is planning a major summer transfer for Marcus Rashford, which will see the Manchester United striker move to the Parc des Princes.
With a £75 million offer, Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to test Manchester United’s will to hold onto Marcus Rashford as a striker this summer.
In an effort to replace Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to depart PSG for Real Madrid, the French powerhouses are prepared to make a second go at signing Rashford.
PSG worked hard to acquire Rashford in 2022 and were willing to offer the England player a massive contract worth £400,000 per week. After deciding to stay with United, Rashford scored a career-high 30 goals the previous season, earning himself a new long-term contract worth £350,000 per week through 2028.
But with just seven goals in 34 United appearances this season, Rashford has found it tough to duplicate such exploits and has also faced challenges off the field.
In October, after celebrating his birthday at a Manchester nightclub, only hours after United’s 3-0 home loss to local rivals City, he received a rebuke from United manager Erik ten Hag.
Rashford missed training after a 12-hour drinking spree while traveling to Belfast, called in sick, and was benched for United’s FA Cup match against Newport in January.
PSG is certain they can capitalize on Rashford’s present situation at United by resuming their attempt to sign him as Mbappe’s replacement, with an initial offer of £75 million.
Even if they consider Rashford to be worth closer to £100 million, United might be persuaded to accept such an offer, especially in light of the tough financial fair play laws that have limited their transfer market expenditure.
However, because Rashford is a homegrown player who rose through the ranks at United, any transfer price will be viewed as pure profit under Premier League P&S regulations, giving them more leeway to bolster the team.
Even though Rashford stated last month that he was committed to United in an interview with the Players’ Tribune, PSG is certain they can convince him to move to the French capital, even though they are also keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen of Napoli.
Despite his unbreakable tie with United, Rashford might also be drawn to a fresh start given the issues both on and off the field have caused him to have such a challenging season.
