Mason Greenwood is reportedly a target for Barcelona, but Manchester United is requesting a €50 million (£42.7 million) transfer price, according to Spanish publications.
After United chose to let the forward depart Old Trafford in the final hour of the summer transfer window, Greenwood has spent the season on loan in La Liga with Getafe.
Since his arrest in January 2022 for attempted rаpe, controlling behavior, and viоlence, the 22-year-old has not appeared on the field for United.
Before United faced significant criticism for accepting Greenwood back into the first team, all accusations against him were withdrawn in February of last year.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s new co-owner, has stated that a fresh choice on the forward’s future at Old Trafford will be made, but he has kept the door open for Greenwood to return.
Barcelona’s sports director, Deco, and two CAA Base agents, Frank Tramboli and Fede Massai, were met earlier this week in Barcelona by United’s football director, John Murtough, and head of director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves.
It’s said that Barcelona has already shown interest in signing Greenwood as a forward and has contacted him about a summer transfer to Camp Nou.
Marca reports that United is willing to trade Greenwood, but they will want €50 million (£42.7 million). Despite the fact that Greenwood’s current deal with Getafe ends at the conclusion of the following season, the Premier League team is also reluctant to completely rule out the prоspect of extending his stay.
While Greenwood is reportedly eager to play for a Champions League team, he would also welcome returning to Getafe for another season because of the strong bonds he has developed with the team.
Having already tallied six goals and five assists this season in La Liga, the 22-year-old has been one of Getafe’s most impressive players.
