Mason now realizes that the forced separation has strained their marriage and that he might be required to return to the Premier League for the upcoming season.

He has been on loan at La Liga club Getafe since Old Trafford administrators determined in September of last year that he should pursue his future elsewhere in light of the dismissal of attempted rape and assault allegations against him.

Alongside his companion Harriet and their infant daughter Summer, Mason currently resides in Madrid.

In order to facilitate his son’s transition to life in Spain, Father Andrew has also established a residence in the vicinity.

Melanie, the couple’s mother, has persisted in residing at the Bowdon residence, thereby engendering discord within their union.

United has maintained on numerous occasions that Greenwood’s most probable destiny with the club is a permanent departure.

Last week, however, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority owner, generated controversy by implying that the club might reconsider its decision and re-sign the 22-year-old forward to Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Greenwood had hoped to remain in Spain, although a transfer to Barcelona was being considered.

However, assisting in the reduction of his family’s burdens may be a deciding factor in the event that he decides to return.

“Mason has been extremely content in Spain and is aware that many elite clubs, including Barcelona, are interested in him,” according to one source.

“Since the manner in which United handled the situation subsequent to his charges, he has been irritated and has never been inclined to return.”

“However, Mason’s parents have been separated for extended periods of time ever since he moved to Spain, and it is common knowledge that longdistance relationships can be difficult, especially considering the pressures they have been under since Mason’s initial arrest in January 2022.”

“The past two years have been extraordinarily trying for the Greenwood family.

“He believes that by returning to United, they could resolve a great deal of their issues.” The fact that he is extremely close to his parents is one factor that could influence a decision to return home.

Seven of Greenwood’s 25 league appearances have been goals for Getafe.

His contract with United is set to expire in 2025.
