Marcus Rashford has confessed that during his rookie season at Manchester United, he and his pals would engage in “street football” during their free time.
Rashford joined the Red Devils at the tender age of seven and progressed through the academy system prior to making his first-team debut in February 2016 against Danish club Midtjylland. Following the warm-up ιnjury to Anthony Martial, Louis van Gaal selected Marcus Rashford to start the match, and the forward promptly delivered. In a resounding 5-1 victory, he scored twice as United advanced to the round of 16 in the Europa League.
Rashford made his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later. He once more scored twice for United and assisted on the other goal en route to a 3-2 victory. At the time, 18 years and 130 days old, Rashford became the club’s third-youngest-ever competition scorer, trailing only Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda.
In March 2016, Rashford maintained his ascent by scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Manchester City and then leading the charge in their FA Cup final triumph over Crystal Palace. As compensation for his finish to the season with eight goals in eighteen appearances, he was awarded a new long-term contract.
Nevertheless, it appears that Rashford’s rapid integration into the United first-team was concealed. During an interview with The Players’ Tribune, the England international disclosed that playing “street football” with his close friends during his free time was a factor in his success at Old Trafford.
Rashford remarked, “Are you aware of something absurd? I probably shouldn’t even admit this, but on my days off during my first season with the United first team, I would return home and play street football with my mates.
“That constitutes my culture.” It continues to hаunt me, and I believe that is one of the reasons I managed to escape. “I could not expect you to comprehend if you did not experience it alongside us.”
After an additional eight years, Rashford has become one of the club’s most senior players. Since debuting with the first team, he has appeared in 391 matches and scored 128 goals. Rashford, on the other hand, has recently been criticized for missing the match against Newport after reporting to training unwell after a night out in Dublin.
This occurred just a few months after Marcus Rashford was observed leaving Manchester United’s lackluster loss to Manchester City at a cabaret, an incident that Erik ten Hag deemed “incomprehensible.” In addition to his body language and demeanor, Rashford has received criticism for the frustrated expression on his face during United’s attacks.
Meanwhile, prior to the upcoming Manchester derby, Rashford has responded to the criticism that has been directed at him. He stated, “Be patient; I am not an ideal individual. Upon committing an error, I will be the first to raise my hand and acknowledge the need for improvement. I must, however, speak out if my loyalty to Manchester United is ever called into doubt.
“It’s as if someone were to call into doubt my very being and all that I stand for as a male. I was raised in this area. I have been a member of this club’s youth program since my youth. When I was young, my family declined money that could have changed my life so that I could keep this insignia.
