The Rabat- Kylian Mbappe, a standout forward for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), purportedly signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid two weeks ago, as reported by the Spanish sports daily Marca.
The news was officially verified by the sports agency on Monday, affirming long-standing rumors that the French player might join Real Madrid, which have persisted for more than five years.
Mbappe informed PSG last week, as reported by multiple publications, including The Athletic, that he will be departing the club upon his 30 June declaration as a free agent.
Marca additionally revealed Mbappe’s remuneration at Real Madrid, articulating that the athlete shall be granted a “progressive sum ranging from €15 million to €20 million net annually, in addition to bonuses contingent upon the achievement of specific objectives.”
In addition, Mbappe earned 32 million net (72 total) euros during his final two seasons with PSG subsequent to the extension of his contract in 2022, according to the Spanish sports publication. Forbes ranked Mbappe first on its annual list of the World’s Highest-Paid Soccer Players with the contract renewal.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian sports journalist who specializes in football transfer news, commented on Mbappe’s potential salary at Real Madrid via his official X account, formerly Twitter. Romano wrote, “Real Madrid fixed salary proposal for Kylian Mbappe is significantly lower than the one made in summer 2022 — and also lower than [his] current salary.”
Real Madrid supporters ultimately decided to accept Mbappe’s reduced remuneration, realizing that it was the only viable option for the forward to achieve his goal of playing for Real Madrid. Marca reports that as a result, the athlete has made the decision to prioritize the athletic experience over the financial aspect.
Pumpier believes that his career has reached a turning point and that he should relocate to the Spanish capital in order to play for Real Madrid, a goal he has always held.
As a result, Mbappe is slated to make his La Liga début in August 2024, when competition resumes.
