Luke Shaw is expected to travel to Luton on Sunday, and Manchester United are optimistic about his fitness, whereas Tyrell Malacia is nearing his return to training.
Lone England defender In the Red Devils’ Premier League match against Aston Villa last weekend, Shaw made his customary debut. However, at halftime, he was substituted in favor of Victor Lindelof; Erik ten Hag subsequently labeled the substitution a “precautionary”.
Despite the fact that United secured a drаmаtic late victory at Villa Park on the strength of substitute Scott McTominay’s thunderous header following Douglas Luiz’s cancellation of Rasmus Hojlund’s early effort, they became noticeably vulnerable down the left flank in the absence of Shaw, as center-back Lindelof struggled to maintain position against the likes of Leon Bailey.
Rear right-back In previous instances, Diogo Dalot has filled in for Shaw at left back for Manchester United; however, the current incapacitated status of Aaron Wan-Bissaka further complicates matters for Ten Hag in that regard.
Malacia and Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat have both filled in there in the past, but it appears that United are optimistic that Shaw will be able to face relegation contenders Luton at Kenilworth Road in what is certain to be a physically taxing contest.
In addition to Wan-Bissaka, Malacia, and Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez and Anthony Martial are also sidelined.
When reporters inquired about the status of Shaw during his pre-Luton press conference on Thursday, Ten Hag responded: “While he is uncertain about his ability to travel over the weekend, we remain optimistic that he will succeed.
“Therefore, he was substituted [from the match against Villa] as a precaution; I believe it was the correct choice, especially considering the subsequent victory.” However, we remain at work until Sunday.
“Predominantly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will miss several weeks due to a recurrence of the ιnjury he sustained last week during training.” The treatment of Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia will require an additional few weeks.
