Manchester United is still thinking about what to do with a number of top players.
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News says that United want to put off making choices about new deals so that the Ineos Group has time to finish buying a 25% stake in the club.
With a new sports director, Ineos wants to change how the club is set up. United can’t sign any new players until this problem is fixed, which is the main reason why.
The story is mostly about Raphael Varane, a French defender.
United didn’t ask for the one-year increase in his contract, but the 30-year-old has played nine of the last 11 games.
A source says that Varane has no plans to leave United during the January trade window. He’ll want to finish his four-year deal.
In the summer, Erik ten Hag should try to get the average age of the team down. That might meаn getting rid of Varane and putting in a younger center back.
Since 2021, when he moved from Real Madrid to Old Trafford, the World Cup winner has been there.
United also needs to choose what to do with Jonny Evans. Before the season started, the 36-year-old signed with the Reds as a free agent.
Explain in the comments what choice you would make about Varane’s deal.
