TNT announced on Thursday that Anthony Davis, a standout for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been selected as a Western Conference reserve for the 2024 NBA All-standout Game in Indianapolis.
So far this season, the Lakers’ power forward has averaged 24.9 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in 46 games.
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns have joined Davis as reserves in the Western Conference.
The season has been genuinely remarkable for Davis, who has, above all else, maintained good health for the majority of the year. Davis has arguably been the greatest player for the Lakers this season, surpassing even the starting guard, LeBron James. This is especially true considering his defense, in which he has consistently demonstrated that he is among the greatest defensive bigs in the NBA, if not the best.
In addition to his оffensive dominance in the paint, Davis has improved his shooting consistency and made significant strides in his distributing, averaging 4.6 assists in January.
Davis was an apparent candidate to fill in as a reserve, notwithstanding the West’s overwhelming overall strength. James Harden, De’Aaron Fox, Lauri Markkanen, Jamal Murray, and Domantas Sabonis were among the deserving players who failed to make the cut despite having the ability to be selected with relative ease.
Additionally, the Eastern Conference reserves were chosen. The cut was made with the following players selected: Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic, and Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.
NBA All-Star Weekend is held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 16-18. The Panini Rising Stars competition is held on Friday, the 16th. The following evening, on State Farm All-Star Saturday, the Starry 3-point Contest and the AT&T Slam Dunk are held. The contest will take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday evening.
Anthony Davis believes the Lakers are “pretty close” to achieving their objective.
Although receiving the All-Star honors is a significant achievement, Anthony Davis is undeniably more preoccupied with salvaging the Lakers’ season. Despite the team remaining below.500, Davis remаins optimistic about their prospects.
Recently, the big man commented on this, stating that he agrees with LeBron James that the Lakers are not all that far off from where they ought to be and that they are capable of defeating any team on any given night. Davis emphasized that the Lakers must improve their consistency and string together a strong span of games in order to narrow the gap to a playoff berth, which is not particularly significant.
