Altay Bayindir has been with Manchester United since September of last year, but he hasn’t played for the team yet.

The Turkish team’s best goalie left Fenerbahce to join Erik ten Hag’s team on a 5-million-euro deal as a backup for Andre Onana. This 25-year-old guard has been quietly waiting for his chance to play ever since. 

But Altay Bayindir should make his bow for Man United fans this weekend when they go to Newport County to play in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Because Cameroon surprised everyone by making it to the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations, Onana will not be able to play for a while.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the Turkish goalie to show Ten Hag that he can be trusted. After all, Onana has never given the Red Devils peace of mind since he came here on a 50.2 million euro deal.

But Altay Bayindir will be under a lot of heat because of this. Newport plays in League Two and isn’t even close to the size of Manchester United, but they are very proud of their team and will do everything they can to surprise the Premier League giants. 

Because he doesn’t get much playing time, this goalie might not do his best in the next game. But he needs to find a way to get past the problems and pressure, just like he did before. when I was very little.

In 2018, Bayindir had a hard time getting into Ankaragucu’s first team. He played in his first Turkish national title game in November of that year, and Fenerbahce noticed how well he kept playing and how well he could control the goal. 

Fenerbahce put money on Bayindir in July 2019 ($1.5 million) to bring him to Ulker Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium. He was picked right away as the club’s number one goalie, even though he was very young and didn’t have much experience. 

Bayindir only let in 1.19 goals per game on average while playing for Fenerbahce for three years, which was the fifth-lowest number in Suρer Lig. Many big teams in the Premier League, like Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Newcastle, paid attention to him because of this performance and his great promise. 

Manchester United won the race to get this 1.98-meter-tall goalie in the end. However, he still needs to work on a lot of things, like passing the ball and keeping it in the penalty area. Ten Hag will probably not think twice about giving him a chance in the FA Cup. 

Since Cameroon is still playing at AFCON, Bayindir could also start next week for Man United in the Premier League. That is going to be the hardest thing for this goalie to do. That being said, every success has to go through tough tests. 

Bayindir has already gotten rid of Fenerbahce’s best goalie to become the team’s leader, which shows he is skilled and brave enough to take advantage of the chance. You never know, maybe his good play in Wales will set him up for a similar one at Manchester United.
