SO. SAN FRANCISCO— Anthony Davis, a center for the Los Angeles Lakers, left Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors in the third quarter with what looked like a lower-body ιnjury. He was able to come back early in the fourth quarter, though. Davis fell to the ground in a lot of pаin while driving through the lane in the middle of the third.
He stayed on the ground for several minutes while Lakers staff members took care of his lower body. Davis shot both of his free throws before LeBron James took a foul that let Davis limp to the locker room. He had to be helped up and walk carefully to the foul line.
In 25 minutes of play, Davis had 17 points and 8 rebounds as the Lakers tried to cut into Golden State’s lead. He made his first shot after coming back into the game in the fourth, a jump shot that float in the lane.
Davis had played in 44 of the Lakers’ 46 games and was having an All-Star-caliber season. He was averaging 25 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks per game going into Saturday night. Davis has been hurt a lot, and he hasn’t played in more than 54 games since the 2019–20 season, which is also when the Lakers won their last NBA title.
