Anthony Davis: Lakers’ Inconsistency ‘More Frustrating Than Concerning’

There was hope that the Los Angeles Lakers would finally be able to get going against a failing Brooklyn Nets team after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks in a row. But things did not go their way, even though Anthony Davis played well again.

Davis scored 26 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, gave out six assists, stole three balls, and blocked two shots. However, the Lakers’ defense let them down in the second half, and they lost 130–112. And after the game, Davis said he was upset that the Lakers hadn’t been able to build on their previous strong efforts.

It was “very frustrating,” Davis said. “When you have two great games against two good teams, two “statement wins,” you want to keep that momentum going into tonight.” That carried over into the first half, but we didn’t come out strong on defense in the second half.

When you’re trying to get into a rhythm and both teams have great games, Davis said, “you kind of just go back to the way things were in the first half and don’t play much defense against these guys.”

It was easy for them to make shots, layups, and dunks, but they were fouling and not grabbing the ball. I believe we failed at every defensive task, which let the other team get into a groove. Now you’re playing with confidence, and the hoop was a lot bigger for them.

Lakers look lost in second half of blowout loss to Nets - Los Angeles TimesDavis said that communication problems were to blame for the Lakers’ defense problems.

It was hard to understand each other, Davis said. “We went under some screens when we were supposed to go over them.” It doesn’t make sense that after we score, they get a wide-open shot in transition.

“Miscommunication meаns we’re probably helping people when we shouldn’t be.” There are some problems with the news. Guys are getting wide-open 3s while they swing the ball. I meаn little things like that that we had control over in the last two games but didn’t in the third.”

These are the kinds of problems that a team that should be proud of that end of the court shouldn’t have. Davis is angry that the Lakers are having trouble, but he’s not worried, which is different.

When we know what we can do, we get frustrated. We’ve already shown that we won’t do it. That being said, it bothers me less than it worries me.

And Davis is right; the Lakers have shown what they can do by beаting the Thunder, the Mavericks, and the Los Angeles Clippers recently. However, it must be very upsetting that they can’t take that over to teams they should be able to beаt.

James of the Lakers says that Anthony Davis is learning how to pass from him.

Davis’s passing keeps getting better; he had his fourth straight game with at least five assists, which is good for him and the Lakers. And LeBron James recently said that Davis’s improvement in making plays was partly his fault.

It’s my job to teach him how to pass out of the post, LeBron said after the win. “This is real. It looks great after he worked on it. Soon, teams will no longer double him.

It won’t matter if teams double him as long as we make shots for him. When he gets doubled, it’s our job to be where we need to be at the right time. Because of the numbers, it’s going to be a four-on-three on the bottom, so we need to get ready.
