One transaction between Manchester United and Sevilla has been finalized thus far this month: Hannibal Mejbri is commencing a fresh phase of his career in Spain.

The аggressive midfielder joined Sevilla on a six-month loan with a €20 million purchаse option. United made every effort to secure the deal by including a substantial buy-back clause and a sell-on clause, estimated to be worth €35 million.

This month, loan exits have been the focal point of attention at Old Trafford. Joe Hugill (Burton Albion), Alvaro Fernandez (Benfica), Donny van de Beek (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) have also departed temporarily, in addition to Hannibal.

His stellar performance at the Under-21 level has not, however, persuaded Manchester United that he merits an opportunity to flourish with the first-team.

Thursday morning, both Manchester United and Sevilla confirmed on their respective websites that Mejia had departed for Spain on a free transfer. Despite signing a new contract at Old Trafford only last June, this is the case.

In fact, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Manchester United have augmented Mejia’s contract with Sevilla with a substantial 25 percent sell-on clause.

Sell-on clauses typically range from 10 to 20 percent; however, Manchester United is currently entitled to a quarter of any future sale proceeds.

In addition, the Manchester Evening News reported that although the contract does not include a fixed fee, the two clubs have reached an agreement on a contingent fee, which means United will receive compensation contingent on his performance and achievements in Spain.
