Anthony Davis’ historic performance scoring 41 helped the Lakers win 132-131 over the Raptors, thereby achieving their first consecutive victory in a month.
The fourth quarter was Anthony Davis’s best and he scored 20 of his 41 points. The Los Angeles Lakers beаt the Toronto Raptors 132-131 on Tuesday night to win back-to-back games for the first time in a month.
The Lakers went 3-10 right after winning the first NBA In-Season Tournament in December. LeBron James scored 22 points and had 12 assists. On Sunday, the Lakers beаt the Raptors and then held off the Clippers to get back to.500 (19-19).
Davis led the Lakers to victory over the Raptors in the last few minutes while starting center Jakob Poeltl was out with an ιnjury. Davis grabbed 11 rebounds, made 13 of 17 field goals and 13 of 14 free throws. Davis finished off his great game by making a key block on Scottie Barnes and scoring 10 points in the last 1:01 seconds. He made eight free throws without missing.
Since getting RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley from the Knicks for OG Anunoby, the Raptors have only lost twice in five games. Barnes scored 26 points and Pascal Siakam scored 25. Barrett had 23 points and Quickley had 21 points with four 3-pointers for the Raptors. This was only the second time in their last nine road games that they lost.
When Quickley elbowed Cam Reddish in the face with 3:52 left in the game, it was a clear foul that got him sent off. With 1:08 left, Gary Trent Jr. made a 3-pointer to put the Raptors ahead 121–120, but Davis scored quickly, blocked Barnes’ shot, and then made two free throws right away.
With 24.8 seconds left, Barnes made a 3-point shot that tied the game, but Barrett was called for an оffensive foul that took it away. Davis and Austin Reaves made a string of 10 free throws in the last 34 seconds, which helped Los Angeles hold on even though Dennis Schroder and Trent of Toronto made 3-pointers in the last four seconds.
Poeltl couldn’t play because he sprained his left ankle in last Sunday’s win at Golden State and will be out for a long time. The player from the University of Utah scores 10.6 points and grabs 8.3 rebounds per game. He also has the best shooting average in the NBA (68.5).
Schroder had 10 points and six assists against the team he played for twice in the last three years. With four seconds left, Schroder made a 3-pointer by mistake, but Davis made two more free throws before Trent’s 3-pointer at the bell.
In a great first quarter, Davis scored 16 points by making 7 of 9 shots. After that, Toronto played more zone defense, which made Davis’s job harder and kept the game close the whole time.
Rui Hachimura missed his fourth straight game because of a calf issue, but Lakers coach Darvin Ham said the forward is getting better.
Otto Porter Jr. of Toronto also missed his fifth straight game because his right knee was hurt.
