After a terrible start to the season, the Dutchman is facing more and more pressure at the Theatre of Dreams.
United has lost 12 of its 24 games this season across all tournaments. They finished last in their Champions League group, lost to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup, and are currently ninth in the Premier League.
United hasn’t been able to decide what to do with Ten Hag because Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s interest in the club has been held up.
However, INEOS’s 25% stake should be approved in the next four to six weeks, and Sir Dave Brailsford is already checking out how the club is running.
The club needs to hire a new sports director and CEO right away, but Ten Hag’s future at the club is definitely not clear.
It would be better for INEOS to keep Ten Hag as manager until at least the end of the season. This way, they can see if United can improve their play when players like Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez get fresh.
Potter hasn’t had a job since April of last year, when Chelsea fired him.
The Englishman had just quit Brighton seven months before to take over as manager at Stamford Bridge from Thomas Tuchel, but fans in west London did not like him.
However, Potter’s teaching skills impressed INEOS, and he was asked to become Nice’s new manager last summer.
Potter is likely biding his time before becoming a manager, and if the job at Old Trafford opens up, he would be interested.
