News about Sancho
Borussia Dortmund, where Jadon Sancho used to play, has offered him a way out of his exile at Manchester United. TalkSPORT has learned that Dortmund and United are working on a deal for Sancho to return to Dortmund on loan.
After United boss Erik ten Hag loudly criticized Sancho’s performance in training in September, the English player attacked ten Hag on social media and was then kicked off the team. But he might be able to start over in his career back in Germany, where he had a great record of 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games.
Loan terminated
Because Manchester United used a break option in Sergio Reguilon’s loan deal, he will go back to Tottenham. The 27-year-old Spanish left-back played 12 times for United after coming on in September because Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were hurt.
But United is thought to have decided to shorten the deal since Shaw has already returned to action (though he is still out with a minor illness) and Malacia is also getting close to returning. Since United was out of both Europe and the Carabao Cup, Reguilon was thought to have fewer chances to play in the second part of the season. For now, the Spanish fullback is back with Spurs, but he will probably be sent out on loan again or sold in January.
Varane update
Manchester United have decided not to take up the extra year’s option on Raphael Varane’s contract, talkSPORT understands.
Varane is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs ahead of becoming a free agent in the summer.
United are still open to World Cup winner Varane signing a new deal on a reduced salary. Varane is the Red Devils’ highest-paid player, with the World Cup winner taking home £340,000 a week. He joined United from Real Madrid in a deal worth around £41million including add-ons in the summer of 2021, and while seen as a success initially, Varane has found himself out of the first-team picture for parts of this season following a reported falling out with Erik ten Hag. United had up until tomorrow to trigger the automatic renewal clause in Varane’s deal, but that would have kept him on a similar figure. It is believed the Premier League giants are interested in extending Varane’s contract and are open to talks over a new deal next month.
However, the uncertainty over his future will certainly attract interest from other clubs, with Saudi Arabia an option for the 30-year-old.
