Rasmus Hojlund says he and the “incredible” Alejandro Garnacho are anticipating “many years” together at Manchester United.
The youthful tandem was instrumental in Manchester United’s incredible comeback victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils rallied from a 2-0 deficit to secure a 3-2 triumph.
Garnacho spearheaded the home side’s comeback by scoring twice to bring Erik Ten Hag’s squad back within equal possession. Hojlund then scored the game-winning goal with less than ten minutes remaining to end his Premier League goal drought. On his fifteenth attempt, the £72 million Danish international scored his first league goal since joining United.
The club’s supporters applauded both players as they exited the field following an on-field interview following the game. Hojlund subsequently spoke to MUTV regarding his juvenile teammate and the pivotal positional change that had contributed to the victory.
“Whether he [Garnacho] plays on the left or the right, he is an extraordinary talent,” Hojlund stated. He is only 19 years old, and since we are both youthful and attempt to connect, we converse frequently about games and the connection. We hold out optimism that there are numerous years ahead of us.”
The £72 million forward, ecstatic with the team’s triumph and his initial Premier League goal, further stated, “It couldn’t have been better crafted to earn three points against a formidable opponent at Old Trafford; it was a strong comeback and my first Premier League goal; the script couldn’t have been better.”
“I attempted to persuade myself that it was only a matter of time before I scored my first goal in the division, given how many I had scored in the Champions division. Your happiness and relief are mutual, but it’s not as if I haven’t scored yet.
“We didn’t go down, we talked about it in the changing room and we had great opportunities in the first half. We pressed them and just had to keep believing because we have so much quality offensively and defensively.”
“If we trust each other and keep pushing, I was sure we’d get something out of this game and we got the three points. Old Trafford was on fire today, so really impressed and emotional to score the winner and to hear the Stretford End signing my name”
