Marcus Rashford is battling a stomach vιrus to make Manchester United’s squad for Sunday’s derby against Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail, the England international has been suffering from Norovirus, the winter vomiting sickness, but still wants to play after Erik ten Hag expressed confidence in his fitness.
Rashford’s medical clearance to play against Anfield will be determined during United’s training session on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Harry Maguire has been ruled out after leaving the game against Bayern Munich earlier this week.
Luke Shaw has subsequently trained, but Erik ten Hag said on Friday that Maguire “will not be available for the coming games.”
Victor Lindelof is expected to return to action after missing the losses to Bournemouth and Bayern. Jonny Evans is another possible mate for Raphael Varane. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will bаttle for the starting right-back spot once again.
Anthony Martial, like Rashford, missed training this week owing to sickness, and the Frenchman will be missing again on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes is suspended for the trip to Anfield, while Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho failed to impress in United’s first-leg loss to Bayern.
Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen are allegedly close to returning from ιnjury layoffs, but they have not been verified as fit to play Liverpool, thus Kobbie Mainoo is the best option to replace Fernandes in midfield.
