Since LeBron James and Anthony Davis joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019, there have been many ups and downs. The two won the NBA Championship in their first year together, but the years that followed were blighted by ιnjury and despair.

This season seemed to be more of the same, but Davis and James were able to turn things around and remain on the floor, resulting in the Lakers reaching the Western Conference Finals. With the summer coming and numerous uncertainties surrounding the Lakers’ roster, Davis confesses that they don’t know what the club will look like next year, but whoever comes in must have the correct attitude.

“We don’t know what our group is going to look like,” Davis stated after Los Angeles’ defeat to the Denver Nuggets. “A number of our players are unrestricted free agents. So who can sаy? That is a difficult question. We don’t know who will be on the team next year. But whomever we have going to training camp with the mentality of developing that relationship, that foundation, with me and LeBron setting the tone, wanting to get back here and beyond. I believe we are more than capable of doing this. We simply have to do it.”

When James and Davis are healthy, they can still be a formidable force, but with LeBron already in his 20th NBA season, it is unknown how long the Lakers’ championship window will stay open. But Davis still believes and understands he has to improve if they are to make another run.

“No, I meаn, we still believe.” “Of course, there’s always a window,” Davis remarked. “You don’t have many opportunities to compete for championships. He’s fortunate to have won the East eight times in a row. For myself, gazing in the mirror, I need to do a better job of assisting him in that respect.

“We know the window is always small, and he’s not getting any younger.” This is why this was so essential to both of us, and it aches that we didn’t finish it. But, you know, we reorganize and find out how to be better. Figure out how I can be a better, more consistent player for our team, and we’ll be ready to go next year.”

The ultimate aim is always to win a championship, something the Lakers did not achieve. However, early this year, there were doubts about the Lakers’ ability to compete in the postseason, which Davis and the Lakers quickly dispelled. Davis’ conviction that the Lakers can defeat anybody if the proper components are in place around him and LeBron has not changed.

“For sure, and the last two seasons, not including this year, you know, either I’ve been hurt or he’s been hurt or we’ve both been injured,” he said. “So, for the most part, we were healthy in the second half of the year, and we made it to the Western Conference Finals.” As I previously said, it is not the final aim, but we thought that the two of us were a dominating force, and if we put me𝚗 around us, we can make it happen.

“We believe that — we don’t seek support from anyone outside of that locker room, the front office, and the organization.” “We believe, and that is all that matters.”

The Lakers have a lot of roster choices to make this summer, but as long as Anthony Davis and LeBron James are fit and on the floor, the Lakers will take their chances against any team in the NBA.

Nobody could have imagined the Lakers’ comeback from the start of the season to reaching the Western Conference Finals. And, although the Lakers had a shot in every game against the Nuggets, Davis was not in the mood for good spins right after the season ended.

“Don’t do moral victories or anything like that,” he remarked. “We compete to win championships.” Came up short on the fence. So it’s difficult. But as the days and weeks pass, you sort of think about it and speak about it from there.”

Davis also discussed the several areas he believes he can improve, and there is little question he will put in the required effort to return next season better than before.
