Chicago Bulls All-Star Zach LaVine has made headlines in Orange County with his recent purchase of a $34 million property in Newport Coast. Speculations had been circulating about the mystery buyer, and it seems LaVine, who began his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, is the proud owner of the most expensive estate ever sold in prestigious Pelican Crest.
The house garnered significant interest, with three offers emerging within the first two weeks on the market. LaVine’s backup offer of $34 million was accepted after the initial escrow fell through, solidifying his new homeownership status.
LaVine’s real estate ventures come as no surprise given his financial success. The 28-year-old basketball player recently sold his previous Newport Coast residence, a similar but smaller estate in Crystal Cove. He has also listed his suburban Washington state home for sale, showcasing his interest in investing in luxurious properties.
The Pelican Crest residence, described as “timeless” and “irreplaceable,” was built in 2010 and underwent an extensive renovation by the previous owners, Rob and Ami Douk. Situated on a 0.79-acre lot behind gates at the end of a cul-de-sac, the Tuscan-style mansion offers an array of amenities.
These include a state-of-the-art gym, infrared sauna, wine cellar, games room, and a golf simulator. The spacious gourmet kitchen boasts two marble-topped islands, and the master suite features a walk-in closet with a Yves Saint Laurent theme.
One of the property’s most remarkable features is its pie-shaped lot, providing sweeping southwest-facing views of the Pacific Ocean and unobstructed sunrise and sunset vistas. However, these breathtaking views come at a cost, as LaVine will be responsible for monthly HOA dues amounting to $843.
Abe Lim of Circa Properties and Paul Daftarian of Luxe Real Estate played crucial roles in the listing and purchase of the property, respectively. LaVine and his wife Hunter can now enjoy the luxurious amenities and stunning views offered by their new Orange County palace.
With this extravagant acquisition, LaVine has solidified his presence among the affluent residents of Pelican Crest, a community that boasts esteemed names like Vanessa Bryant and Paul Merage, the inventor of Hot Pockets.
