The renowned German automaker is set to introduce two fresh models at the upcoming outdoor festival: the iX and i4. BMW has joined forces with American rapper Doja Cat for the Road To Coachella campaign.
Stefan Ponikva, Head of Brand Communication and Experience, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m genuinely excited about the return of Coachella. The importance of emotional experiences holds true not just for individuals but for brands as well. Coachella perfectly encapsulates the ideal fusion of inspiration, innovation, and sustainability.” Ponikva further explained how this aligns seamlessly with BMW’s brand values and objectives, ultimately leading to their renewed commitment. The collaboration with artist Doja Cat has been a catalyst, with her innovative ideas and creativity serving as a driving force.
Doja Cat is widely recognized for her music videos and songs that gain immense popularity on social media platforms. Her impressive career includes accolades like Grammy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and numerous others.
Following BMW’s prior partnership with Jeff Koons for the limited and customized M850i Gran Coupe, Doja Cat is the next artist to craft a distinctive livery for the German automaker. Additionally, BMW has engaged with a variety of other notable individuals for the 2022 Coachella festival, including Olympic skateboarder and 13-time X-Games gold medalist Nyjah Huston, NFL star and fashion insider Victor Cruz, creative director and fashion designer Tremaine Emory, among others.
Doja Cat collaborated with renowned photographer David LaChapelle and creative director Brett Alan Nelson to produce an exclusive livery for the BMW iX, drawing inspiration from her Grammy-nominated album, Planet Her. The result is a one-of-a-kind, bold, and visually captivating wrap.
In a continuation of their tradition, BMW partnered with one of the era’s most prominent artists, Khalid, at the previous Coachella festival in 2019, showcasing their electric vehicle, the BMW i8.
Both the iX and i4 incorporate BMW’s advanced eDrive technology, ensuring impressive performance and extended range. Furthermore, these electric models prioritize sustainability and environmentally friendly materials.
The iX offers two distinct configurations: the iX xDrive40, generating 326 hp, and the iX xDrive50, boasting a remarkable 523 hp. The range spans from 425 km (264 miles) to an impressive 630 km (391 miles).
Meanwhile, the i4 is available in a single eDrive spec and an M-Performance spec, marking the first BMW M-branded electric powertrain. The eDrive40 delivers 340 hp, while the i4 M50 features dual electric powertrains, producing a robust 544 hp.
As the 2022 Coachella festival approaches next weekend, with an array of top global artists confirmed to participate, anticipation builds. In the meantime, don’t miss the chance to explore the exceptional BMW iX crafted in collaboration with Doja Cat.
