Former Boston Red Sox star and Baseball Hall of Famer, David “Big Papi” Ortiz, has decided to list his impressive residence for sale.
Back in 2016, after announcing his retirement, Ortiz and his then-wife Tiffany bought the property for $1.5 mιllιon. They subsequently constructed the magnificent mansion we see today in 2019, as reported by Mansion Global.
Ortiz explained in an email to the publication that his reason for selling is that his children, Alexandra (21) and D’Angelo (18), have now grown up and moved out of the house. Furthermore, he and Tiffany went their separate ways in 2021.
This expansive mansion, situated in Pinecrest, Florida, offers five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms, boasting a total living space of 10,178 square feet. The asking price is an astounding $12.5 mιllιon, according to the ONE Sotheby’s International Realty website.
Described as a blend of “modern style” and “unmatched elegance,” the property features water elements, a grand foyer, and floor-to-ceiling white linen drapes. The design of the house harmonizes with nature, providing “panoramic views of the outdoors” from the great room.
The images of the house reveɑl large windows in various directions, bathing the interior in abundant natural light and offering scenic views of the surrounding trees and shrubbery, spread over slightly more than an acre. Outside, you’ll find several aesthetic touches, including a walkway leading to the entrance with a lit water fountain and fire pit designs on either side.
Within the Ortiz residence, the master suite boasts a “boutique” walk-in closet, a comfortable sitting area, and a luxurious “spa bath” with a floating tub and a spacious 16 ft. shower.
One of the family’s favorite spots, the kitchen, is exquisitely equipped with a large cooking island, a dining area, and top-of-the-line Wolf/SubZero appliances, complemented by a convenient walk-in pantry.
The house also boasts some unique features, such as a state-of-the-art home theater room with surround sound, a sports bar room featuring a large panorama TV above the bar, and even an elevator, maids’ room, and three fire pits.
Stepping outside, you’ll find a pool with a seating area, a spa, a covered terrace, an outdoor shower, and a “summer kit” equipped with an outdoor cooking space, grill, and dining seating.
This sale comes almost a year after Ortiz’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fɑme, where he became the youngest player ever, at the age of 46, to receive such an honor. Throughout his illustrious 20-year career with the Boston Red Sox, Ortiz secured three World Series titles. However, he faced adversity in June 2019 when he was shot by Ԁrυg lord César “The Abuser” Peralta, leading to a challenging road of recovery.
During his induction ceremony, the 46-year-old athlete expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, teammates, and fans, acknowledging that he couldn’t have achieved this success without their support.
